Mine Site Emplacement Works
Simpson Earth serviced BHP Billiton West Cliff Colliery emplacement area for 36 years. This work involved:
- carrying out all major earthworks on-site including construction and maintenance of all dams, haul roads, clean water cut-off drains and coal dump stockpile areas
- management of the coal wash emplacement area including handling of 3.5million tonne of coal wash per year
- clearing trees and stripping of valley in preparation for coal wash emplacement
- capping and regeneration of finished areas utilising the original stripped bushland. This work enabled BHP Billiton to meet environmental and EPA guidelines
