Simpson Earth are the leaders in rehabilitation and pioneers in rehabilitation of large scale emplacement areas.
At mines around the Illawarra and Hunter Valley the general method for regenerating a site was to use grass seeding.
Simpson Earth designed and implemented a tree pulverising attachment to crush and mulch the trees that had been previously removed. These mulched trees were used to revegetate and promote new seed growth, we also create natural water ponds. This creates a native, bushland environment encouraging the wild life and birds back to the area.
Simpson Earth also have the capabilities to move full rock shelfs, aboriginal caves and outcrops. This was done on a job at West Cliff Colliery where 80 metres of coalwash refuge was introduced and over this refuge we placed 1.5m of sandstone and topsoil (which had been previously stockpiled). The rock shelf and aboriginal caves and outcrops were placed back into the newly formed landscape to create a natural bush setting.
